While you lose some weight on the cabbage diet and the tuna diet, you lose lean body mass, too. These programs are so calorie restrictive that your body goes into a starvation mode. In starvation mode, your body tries to hang onto every calorie you eat. Then when it does not get enough calories, it starts taking calories from your muscles. After the diet is over, you no longer have the fat burning muscles to help you maintain weight loss. Therefore, you end up gaining the weight back plus a few extra pounds.
While you can lose weight on any number of crazy diet plans, you can only lose body fat and keep it off through a healthy diet and exercise. Without the exercise, the body will lose both fat and muscle tissue. This is not what you want. The muscle tissue burns fat and makes you look leaner. To really burn the fat, you want to increase lean body muscles. With so many options like walking, jogging, swimming, biking, and rollerblading you are bound to find an activity you enjoy that both burns calories and builds muscles.
That is it. That is the big secret to weight loss. You have to eat healthy and exercise to lose weight. Now all you need is to find the Burn the Fat diet plan that goes along with your new lifestyle.

Tina D asked: I am looking for something natural, that will give my weight loss a bit of a kick start. I am really urgently needing to lose some weight and I am worried that exercise and diet just aren’t enough to get me over that edge. Does anyone know any good reliable natural things I can take to give my body that extra boost it needs? I drink green tea now, anything else?
P.S. I know there is sooo much junk out there. I am not looking for a “magic pill”.

PlasticTrees asked: I’m getting ready to start my diet again because I need to lose 10-15 pounds. Last time it only took 2 weeks, so I’m wondering when I should start working on my abs. I’m 5′5-5′6 and 145 lbs.
I’m pretty good at sticking to my diet, but it is hard to get motivated to work on my abs. Do you know what exercises are best for that area?
